Palm Coast, Fla. – November 18, 2025 – Sparkling gowns, big smiles, and a room overflowing with heart set the tone for the SMART 2nd Annual Fashion Show Fundraiser at Club 51 in Palm Coast. Hosted by SMART of Flagler County (Saving Missing Animals Rescue Team), the sold-out event delivered more than glamour—it delivered hope. Because of the generosity of attendees, sponsors, and supporters, SMART raised more than $12,000 to help rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in need. “Because of you, our incredibly generous and loving community, we raised over $12,000 to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in need,” said Caroline Johnson, Founder of SMART of Flagler County. “That’s not just a number—that’s medical care, warm beds, full bellies, and second chances. It’s what true community looks like – compassion in action, kindness wrapped in sequins, and love that radiates long after the lights fade.” Held on November 13, 2025, the fashion show fundraiser treated guests to an evening of high style, music, food, dancing, and heartfelt moments. Club 51 on Old Kings Road in Palm Coast provided the perfect backdrop for one of SMART’s most sophisticated and classy events to date. The night dazzled thanks to the sponsors and partners who poured their talent and creativity into making the event unforgettable. Day Dream Luxury Events transformed the venue with a backdrop worthy of a Hollywood premiere, while Emma Rose Boutique, Gigi’s Consignment Shop, and Makeup By Ileana brought pure red-carpet glam to the runway and attendees alike. Co-sponsors BOLD Ladies in Business and EMMA ROSE Clothing Boutique by Andrea helped elevate the evening and spotlight local women in business and fashion. One of the most touching highlights of the night was the recognition of philanthropist Jackie Hamilton for her years of unwavering support for local nonprofits through her beloved Chez Jacqueline fashion shows. With Palm Coast Vice Mayor Theresa Pontieri presenting the honor, the room paused in appreciation—proof that giving back never goes out of style. SMART’s First Annual Jam’n 4 Paws was a huge success!
S.M.A.R.T. of Flagler County pet rescue raised nearly $20,000 at its March 23 music festival fundraiser. The “Jamin’ for Paws” festival brought together music lovers, animal advocates and the local community in support of S.M.A.R.T., a press release from the nonprofit said. The festival featured live performances from the local bands Soulfire, Southern Chaos and The Bye Band. Festival attendees were also able to explore local vendors show casing unique goods, food and drinks, the press release said. SMART also showcased many of its adoptable dogs and puppies, allowing attendees to meet and play with them. Some animals were even adopted at the event, underscoring S.M.A.R.T.’s mission to connect dogs with loving homes, the press release said. S.M.A.R.T. founder and Executive Director Caroline Johnson said the fundraiser “showcased the power of community and the importance of supporting our rescue efforts.” “We are so grateful to everyone who came out to support Smart and help us continue our work,” Johnson said. “The turnout was amazing, the music was fantastic, and seeing so many of our adoptable dogs finding new homes or connecting with potential adopters was incredibly rewarding.” Johnson and the S.M.A.R.T. team thanked everyone who participated and attended the fundraiser, and the sponsors and volunteers who made the fundraiser possible, the press release said. “We can’t wait to see you at our next event!” the organization shared. “Together, we raised almost $20,000, and every bit of that will help us save lives and make a difference for the animals in our community. Shelly’s Story: From Abandoned to On the Mend $6,000 Reward for any Info that leads to an arrest! Some rescues begin with a phone call that changes everything. Earlier this month, a young black-and-white puppy was discovered at Shell Bluff Park in Flagler County, unable to stand and barely responsive. A county employee was alerted by a park visitor who noticed the pup lying in a ditch. With rain having moved through the area on and off, the scene raised immediate concern that the puppy had been left there recently. SMART Stepped In When SMART (Saving Missing Animals Response Team) was contacted, our team responded right away. The puppy—now known as Shelly—was in obvious distress and needed urgent medical attention. What initially looked like it could have been a serious illness quickly revealed itself to be something far more complicated. Shelly had multiple wounds across her body, including injuries that required immediate veterinary care. Emergency Veterinary Care Shelly was transported to East Coast Animal Hospital in Palm Coast and the situation was reported to local law enforcement. Veterinary staff documented numerous injuries, including bite-like wounds and severe swelling. Several of the deeper wounds were already contaminated and required intensive treatment. Based on the location and pattern of injuries, the case raised concerns consistent with the kinds of trauma sometimes seen in suspected dog-fighting situations. It’s important to be clear: investigations determine facts. What we know for certain is that Shelly suffered tremendously—and someone left her without help. The Turning Point The first 48 hours were critical. Shelly’s care included aggressive wound management, infection control, and procedures to remove damaged tissue so her body could begin healing. And then, slowly, she started to come back. As the pain eased and her strength returned, Shelly began showing the personality that had been buried under shock and suffering. She’s been described by her caregivers as affectionate and people-focused—seeking comfort, offering kisses, and showing interest in toys. Like many dogs who have endured trauma, she is still cautious around other dogs, and her recovery will continue at a pace that keeps her feeling safe. What Shelly Needs Now Shelly’s story is not just about one puppy. It’s about what happens when a community refuses to look away.
